The Australian Export Awards is a national program that recognises and honours exporters who have achieved sustainable export growth through innovation and commitment.
The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) partner the presentation of this national program, which, in its 47th year is historically one of the longest running business awards programs in Australia.

The program is made possible through the collaboration of all the States and Territories, who each independently run their export awards programs. The winners from these eight programs progress as national finalists to the Australian Export Awards. Entering at the State and Territory level is the only way of becoming a national finalist with the possibility of winning a national Award or the highly prestigious Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year Award.
Given the importance of exporting to the Australian economy, the objectives of the program are to showcase Australia’s top exporters. The winners are role models for the businesses of Australia – demonstrating their drive to achieve success overseas and their significant contribution to the economy, encouraging other Australian businesses to strive for success in world markets. Past winners have reported that an Australian Export Award has increased their credibility in overseas markets and generated significant media interest in their business.
Winners of the program are highlighted and promoted through direct contact with Australian business representatives at export events and through the generation of press coverage of the national finalists and winners.
The twelve Award categories in the Australian Export Awards offer an opportunity whatever your business size or industry. The benefits of winning a prestigious award can mean entering is a worthwhile investment of your time. One of the twelve Award winners is personally selected by the Prime Minister, to be known as the Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year – the ultimate accolade for an Australian exporter.

Program Objectives
- Identify and reward Australia's most successful and innovative exporters
- Promote top exporters as corporate role models in order to stimulate greater involvement in exporting amongst Australian businesses
- Promote Australia's leading exporters to the same status and public recognition as sporting and entertainment heroes
- Further develop community awareness of the importance of exporting to Australia’s economic future and support the drive to substantially increase the number of companies exporting
Working with States and Territories
The Australian Export Awards is a collaborative event. Each calendar year, representatives from Austrade, the ACCI and coordinators from the eight State and Territory Export Award programs plan and implement the National Awards program.
Award categories, eligibility guidelines, judging criteria, application processes, marketing and publicity activities are reviewed annually and improved upon as appropriate.
Entering at the State and Territory level is your only path to the Australian Export Awards, with winners from each state and territory automatically progressing as national finalists.
