Case Study - Epichem (WA)

Epichem

Epichem
Winner, Small Business Award

Epichem is a leading contract drug discovery company exporting products and services to 18 countries, with clients amongst the world's largest and best known pharmaceutical companies. Epichem has also been engaged by a Swiss-based organization, in a major global initiative to find a cure for Chagas disease, a neglected parasitic disease affecting approximately 10 million people.

A high risk endeavour, drug discovery offers very high returns for success. Epichem reduces this risk by self-funding, generating revenues by selling its products and fee-for-service work. Some of the intellectual property generated by the company is entering the commercialisation phase with options and licensing negotiations currently underway.

Epichem’s slogan, ‘Molecules Made to Order’, broadly describes how it uses synthetic and medicinal chemistry expertise to deliver tailor-made products and services for customers, and generate valuable intellectual property (IP). Inventing these previously unknown compounds for the first time on an exclusive basis means the company also generates valuable IP for its clients.

While the drug discovery and pharmaceutical sectors are Epichem's primary focus, customers in the animal health, agrochemical and even mining sectors also use its specialist chemistry expertise.
