Case Study - Longwarry Food Park (VIC)

Longwarry-Banner

Winner, Agribusiness Award

Longwarry Food Park exports milk powders and dairy-based products to Asia, Africa and the Middle East for use in sweets, biscuits and other dairy products.  Their range includes the well-known Gippy Milk fresh milk and long-life products.

Longwarry Food Park’s exports have increased by 60 per cent in the past 12 months, with an output of 25,000 tonnes of dairy products and 110 million litres of milk. They have expanded into UHT milk production to take advantage of the strong demand for these products in Asian markets.

The current owners purchased the decommissioned plant in 2001, subsequently upgrading to the latest production technology and energy efficiency, for which they have won many awards.

Longwarry impressed the judges with their investment and innovation in the plant to reduce costs, improve product quality and the competitiveness of exports.  Longwarry was also commended for their strict quality control.
