Already dominant in the domestic market through its Queensland division, Sedgman has focused on strategically developing their systems to deliver projects and operations in Asia, Africa and the Americas. In the past year, Sedgman undertook major coal projects in Mongolia and Mozambique; metals projects in Botswana and Laos; and a record number of bankable coal and metals studies in more than 20 countries. This success was underpinned by export earnings doubling in 2010–11.
Sedgman was named the Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year for 2011 and was also the recipient of the Minerals and Energy Award. The company achieved the highest accolade for an Australian exporter through their continued investment in R&D, consistent financial performance, diversified export strategy and commitment to community improvement.
