Applications will be assessed based on the weighting given to each assessment area. There are three assessment areas that are weighted and scored.

Assessment area 1: Your business story and national benefit

Note: The first two questions are not scored and are for promotional purposes only.

  1. Describe your business in 30 words or less.

Assessment area 2: National category

Thinking about your business in the agribusiness, food and beverage sector, tell us what makes your business successful internationally, and what you’ve done to ensure its long-term viability? Consider biosecurity regulations, climate, market concentration and diversification, product or technology innovation, supply chain improvements, and research and development.

Thinking about your business in the Creative, Lifestyle and Design industries sector, tell us what makes your business successful internationally, how you leverage the brands unique design IP and creative narrative to provide a point of difference in international markets and what you’ve done to ensure its long-term viability? Consider product innovation, design and brand experience, cultural exchange, technology, service, and design.

Thinking about your business in the technologies sector, tell us what makes your business successful internationally, and what you’ve done to ensure its long-term viability? Consider research and development, product innovation, industry, or market diversification.

Thinking about your business as an emerging exporter, tell us what makes your business successful internationally, and what you’ve done to ensure its long-term viability? Consider measures such as customer identification, market access, technology, or product innovation.

Thinking about your First Nations exporting business, tell us what makes your business successful internationally, and what you’ve done to ensure the meaningful involvement and contribution of First Nations people in the development of goods and services, leadership and decision-making, and cultural or economic benefit. Consider product innovation, market diversification, customer identification or marketing.

Thinking about your business in the international education and training sector, tell us what makes your business successful internationally, and what you’ve done to ensure it contributes positively to the international student experience. Assessment area 3: Business and export growth strategy

  1. Outline the key risks you face in your international business, and what risk management strategies you have in place (maximum 300 words).
    Please consider the following risks:
    1. supply chain
    2. regulations
    3. inflation
    4. exchange rate
    5. reputational
    6. geopolitics.
  2. Outline your key capital and operational investment priorities that will support your export business plans for the next 3 years (maximum 300 words).
  3. Describe where you are seeing export growth, for example entering new or existing markets, sales, development and commercialisation, etc. (maximum 300 words)

Finances, HR and grants

You are required to provide supporting evidence to demonstrate eligibility and substantiate claims in your application.

You must attach supporting documentation to the application portal in line with the instructions provided. You should only attach requested documents. We will not consider information in attachments that we do not request.

  1. HR data across 3 financial years for full-time employee figures and, where relevant, casual or seasonal employee figures
  2. Export revenue across 3 financial years (2023/2024, 2024/2025, 2025/2026) including:
    1. total sales revenue from domestic and export sales.
    2. foreign revenue from export sales only.
    3. export sales figures from the top 3-5 export markets
  3. Is your business an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed company?
  4. If the business is an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed company, information to demonstrate financial stability by either:
    1. maximum 2-year-old audited financial report including the auditor’s report, or
    2. un-audited financial results if the audited financial report is greater than 2 years old.
  5. If the business is not an ASX listed company, information to demonstrate financial stability per Section 3.5.3, by either:
    1. Financial data across 3 financial years (2023/2024, 2024/2025, 2025/2026):
      1. net profit
      2. current, non-current and total assets
      3. current, non-current and total liabilities
      4. net worth
      5. working capital, or
    2. a letter from a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) that attests to your financial stability
  6. Has your business received state and/or federal government grants to support your export strategy in the past three years? (yes/ no)
  7. Information on any Federal or state government grants received in the last 3 years, including the:
    1. purpose of the grant, and
    2. amount of the grant/s

Promotional attachments

You are required to provide the following promotional assets.

  • Digital assets for your business, including:
    • minimum three images that reflects your business’ products, services, culture and community. Images must be:
    • landscape only
    • file type: JPG or PNG
    • resolution: minimum of 1MB in size, minimum of 300dpi or above
  • Business logos:
    • 1 x colour logo
    • 1 x reverses logo (white logo, clear background)
    • file type: JPG or PNG
    • resolution: High-res as EPS or AI
  • Optional: video assets for your business that promote your business’ products, services, culture and community
